Nennai Nyushi Navi, a Matching Service for Comprehensive Selection and Recommendation Admissions: AI Feature Development and Ongoing Co-Creation
Overview
Nennai Nyushi Navi is a matching service that connects universities with high school students aiming for comprehensive selection or school recommendation admissions. Its distinctive feature is that universities can search for students and send them scout offers.
As a co-creation partner of Avalon Consulting Inc., we handled development and release from the concept stage onward. Since release, the same team has continued to develop and improve the service.

Challenges
- There was no single place to search for information on comprehensive selection and recommendation admissions
- Universities had no way to approach students who were a good fit for them directly
- Students had few opportunities to get objective feedback on documents such as statements of purpose
What We Did
- Developed three service interfaces, for high school students, universities, and administrators, along with a shared platform
- A scout feature that lets universities reach out to students, plus real-time chat
- An iOS app that lets students receive scout offers and chat messages on their phones
- Features using generative AI, added step by step after release (see below)
Results
- Users grew 11-fold year over year (as announced by the operating company)
- Registered high school teachers increased about 4.7-fold in one year (as announced by the operating company)
- AI now supports labor-intensive work such as preparing university information, grading documents, and writing scout messages

We also built operational mechanisms so the AI can be used with confidence over the long term.
- Record the cost of each use, and route simple tasks to lower-cost models to keep costs down
- Limit which sites the AI may reference, so it does not make things up when no information is available
- Do not leave total scores to the AI; recalculate them in code
Student App
We also developed an app that lets students receive scout offers from universities on their phones and continue the conversation with the university by chat.
Co-Creation That Continues After Release
We have kept improving the service since release, expanding its features in line with user feedback and business growth: scout offers, chat, the student app, landing pages, campaigns, email delivery of recommended universities, and LINE login.
Our role as a co-creation partner is not to build something and walk away, but to keep working alongside the business as it grows.
