Our Own Slack Auto-Translation: Making Multilingual Team Communication More Efficient
We have developed our own automatic translation feature for Slack to make communication in our multilingual team more efficient. With this extension, messages in Japanese and English are translated automatically. And if anything in a translation looks off, it can easily be corrected right in Slack.
Until now, each member translated messages by hand, which caused problems such as the following:

Work efficiency dropped because everyone translated whenever they personally needed to

Work went ahead on the basis of mistranslations, causing misunderstandings

Translation quality varied from person to person

Checking whether translations were accurate took extra effort
The automatic translation feature we developed solves these problems and provides an environment where every member can move projects forward smoothly.
We are currently using this feature in-house. We will keep improving it and raise the quality of communication in our product co-creation work. We plan to make it publicly available in the future.
